these guidelines to communicate your requirements, save time, and reduce project expenses.

Hints:
- General Guidelines for All Projects
- Note any special format instructions.
- Provide spelling of proper names and industry jargon.
- Specify delivery requirements, due date, and rough draft approval.
- Advise if you plan to FAX the completed project; you will need a larger font.
- Handwriting for Word Processing
- Clear, legible writing guarantees fast typing.
- Write on lined paper, double-spaced to save typing time.
- If letter/memo is a response, provide the original correspondence.
- Number all pages.
- Taping/microcassette for Word Processing
- Speak clearly and state when you want to begin a new paragraph.
- Say "Nish Cap" when you want to capitalize the first letter of a word.
- Say "ALL CAP" when you want to capitalize a whole word.
- If more than one person is speaking, state your name before you speak the first few times so the typist can distinguish the speaker's voice.
- Request for Quote - Word Processing/Editing
- Make sure that "proofing" is included in the vendor's quote.
- List exactly what you want (i.e., type, proof, edit, delivery/mail/email, fax, etc.) before contacting at least three vendors.
- Describe the project the same way to each vendor.
- Ask for turn around time or a completion date.
- Ask how long the vendor has been in business and what software is used.
- For large editing projects, ask for a complimentary three-page edit before you select a vendor.
- Mailing labels can be quoted per label. Also, verify the label size.
